ORTHOPAEDIC ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY INTERNATIONAL is an international group of surgeons founded in Milano, Italy by Dr. Alberto Gobbi, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic problems and trauma. The medical staff is composed of specialists experienced in arthroscopy minimally invasive surgery and joint replacement. Also included in the group are well-trained anesthesists and physical therapists.  The experience gained in the field of sports, as well as our participation in international meetings and research, allows the staff of O.A.S.I. to respond to every emergency in a quick and efficient manner.

It is also the mission of O.A.S.I. to improve the primary and secondary prevention of athletic injuries, using both specific training methods and sophisticated techniques to protect the athlete.

 

 WHY O.A.S.I. ?

Every year in Italy, there are approximately one million people who sustain bone and joint injuries at work, in sports, or in ordinary daily activities, which need immediate diagnosis and surgical treatment, as well as proper rehabilitation.

THE FOUNDER OF O.A.S.I.: Dr. Alberto Gobbi

Born in Milan on the 14th of October 1956, he obtained his doctoral degree in medicine and surgery from the State University of Milan in 1983 and presented his thesis on traumatic injuries in motorcycle sports.

He completed his specialty training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan and presented a thesis on the treatment of leg fractures in athletes.  This was followed by several publications in international journals.  He also completed his training in sports medicine at the University of Genova where he presented a thesis on physiologic characteristics of motorcycle riders.

In the course of following the sport of motocross nationwide, he developed an interest in sports medicine and traumatology.  Many athletes engaged in the high-risk sport of motocross found Dr. Gobbi a point of reference through the years. 

He served as physician for the Italian Motorcycle Federation for the sport of motocross.  In 1986, he met Dr. James Fox in Los Angeles from whom he learned the technique of arthroscopic surgery. He later became a member of several prestigious American societies such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Society of Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery, and the International Cartilage Research Society. He is also a member of the EURO Surgery Knee Arthroscopy Society and the Italian Arthroscopy Association.
