Fellowship program

   

To help in the training of young orthopaedic surgeons, O.A.SI. is enlisted in the database of the International Center for Orthopaedic Education (I.C.O.E.). This an organization based in Los Angeles that aims to foster intercultural exchange and training in the various subspecialties of orthopaedics. 

Numerous applications from orthopaedic surgeons all over the world are received for the fellowship position at OASI. The fellowship’s program duration can either be short-term (3 months) usually reserved for European applicants or long-term (6 to 12 months) for other applicants. The fellowship is made possible through the collaboration of A.I.S.P.O. of San Raffaele Hospital.

Fellows accepted in the program will have the opportunity to gain instruction and experience in shoulder, knee and ankle surgery with emphasis on minimally invasive techniques / arthroscopic treatment and management of sporting injuries.

The training also includes taking part in three consulting sessions per week in association with the attending consultant for a guided experience in the evaluation and investigation of patients. Three operating sessions are scheduled per week where fellows will be exposed to the different surgical techniques. Fellows also have access to a biomechanics laboratory where he can hone his skills in arthroscopic diagnosis and reconstruction using different joint models.  

During the course of the program, the fellow is expected to take part in clinical research on ongoing prospective trials and retrospective studies based on the compilation of documented cases managed by the group. In addition, fellows will have the opportunity to attend and participate in orthopaedic scientific meetings.

The fellow’s stipend is provided by AISPO and housing will be arranged by OASI. Upon completing the fellowship, certification will be awarded.

Applications:

The applicant to this program should be a trained orthopaedic surgeon, having passed, or completed his orthopaedic residency training from a recognized institution.

Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae and the names of three referees with whom the applicant has worked. It is preferred that applications be received six months prior to July or January preceding.
